Grammy Awards postponed due to increase in Covid-19 cases

The organizers of Grammy Awards, scheduled for the end of this month, postponed the event, citing the increase in Covid-19.

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state authorities, health and safety experts, the arts community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th GRAMMY Awards Show,” announced CBS and Recording Academy in a statement. .

“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our priority.”

“Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, running the show on January 31 simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night® at a future date, which will be announced shortly,” the statement added.

This Monday (3), the United States broke a record and registered 1,083,948 new cases of Covid-19, according to the Johns Hopkins University. The number is nearly double the 590,000 infections reported on December 26, 2021.
