Sought by CNN the press office of the carioca association denied the information. “It’s fake news. We don’t know where this rumor came from, but it doesn’t do it.”

Plot from Grande Rio to 2026

Greater Rio has not yet announced its plot for 2026, but the school fans speculate that the chosen theme is Manguebeat, the counterculture movement, which emerged in Pernambuco, in the early 1990s. Created by Chico Science, the action sought to denounce inequalities and poverty, while promoting cultural and artistic renewal in the state.

In the last carnival, the school of Caxias lost the title to the hummingbird of Nilópolis for a tenth lost in the drums. The discount was a source of complaint from the school, which came to appeal in the independent league of samba schools (Liesa), but had its request invalidated by the agency.
