Newly arrived in Brazil, Great Wall Motors (GWM) will start in March 2023 its local production with flex-fuel hybrid vehicles, which can be powered by ethanol or gasoline.
The brand that bought the Mercedes-Benz plant in Iracemápolis (SP) is the second in less than a week to announce the use of this technology.
Last Wednesday (15), Caoa Chery reported that it is producing two flex-hybrid sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in Anápolis (GO), with sales starting scheduled for August.
Toyota, a pioneer in the launch of this technology in Brazil, currently has two products with this option on the market: the Corolla and the Corolla Cross, sales leaders in the country among electrified cars.
Next month, GWM starts selling the Haval 6 in the country, an SUV imported from China in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
The car uses a technology called DHT, which has been updated by GWM itself and offers a range of 200 km for the electric motor – according to the company, most models have a range of up to 80 km.
“Brazil will be the first country to receive this technology”, said last Tuesday (21), Oswaldo Ramos, commercial director of GWM in Brazil.
Plan
Upon arriving in the country, the group announced the investment of around R$ 10 billion in two phases.
In the first, until 2025, R$ 4 billion will be spent, an amount that includes changes to the factory, creation of a network of electric car charging stations and ten launches, all of electrified models.
The other R$ 6 billion will be invested between 2026 and 2032, when the company also intends to start producing batteries locally. The information is from the newspaper. The State of São Paulo.
