The Military Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) carried out on Wednesday (23), during Operation Siege and blockade, in Teófilo Otoni, the largest seizure of explosives in the state. There were 225 pounds of ammonia nitrate, 84 downstream string, 27 pills of fuse, spoiler boxes and a vehicle.
The operation aimed to prevent crimes involving the modality known as the new cangaço. A man and a woman were arrested during the action.
According to PMMG, the military approached a pickup truck in a place known as criminal escape routes. Initially the driver claimed that he was carrying fertilizer but according to police “During the magazine, nine bags of ammonia nitrate soaked in diesel oil, a roll of approximately 500 meters of detonating cordel and $ 3,900.00 in cash.”
When he realized he would be arrested, the driver tried to escape, assaulted a policeman, but was persecuted and reached in the urban area.
In the suspect’s house the military found the 84 downstream cord rolls, 27 pyrotechnic fuse rolls and several detonating boxes.
Inside a cabinet were found another R $ 117,000.00 in cash and several boxes of initiation detonating spoiler.
The site was isolated and a team from the Bope/PMMG anti -bomb squad attended the scene. The wife of the suspect in the house was also arrested. Both were and led to the Teófilo Otoni Civil Police Station.
