Greece and the other eight members of the UN SA signed a joint statement on sexual violence in conflict

Nine Member States of the Security Council-Denmark, France, Greece, Guyana, Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, United Kingdom and Panama-signed a statement on UN joint commitments to agenda “Women, Peace and Security”. This statement was presented by Panama’s permanent representative in the context of the annual open discussion of the Security Council on sexual violence (CRSV). The nine countries expressed their appreciation for the work of the Special Representative of the Secretary -General Pramila Penn, and reaffirmed their full support for her mandate. “The Secretary -General’s report on 2024 is deeply alarming,” they said, strongly condemning the use of sexual violence as war tactics by state and non -state actors.
