Greece – Bulgaria – Romania call for emergency convening of EU Energy Council

The extraordinary convening of the Council of Ministers of Energy of the European Union is requested in a joint letter by the Ministers of Energy of Greece K. Skrekas, Bulgaria A. Nikolov and Romania V. Popescu. According to the letter, after the explosion of energy prices caused by the illegal invasion of Russia in Ukraine, an immediate and decisive response is required at European level.

This is a crisis situation that requires an answer at EU level. in order to protect citizens, industries and economies from the catastrophic consequences of the energy crisis, the letter said.

“In light of the developments, we call on the French Presidency to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Energy Ministers as soon as possible to discuss the extreme conditions we are facing and to take the necessary steps at EU level.” the letter concludes.
