The Greek parliamentary delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (K.S. OSEP) will not participate in the regular, for the current semester, work of its 59th Plenary Session, in Moscow (6-9 June 2022), following an intervention of the Parliament, Mr. K. Tassoula.
It is noted that since the accession of Greece to the KS. BSEC, in June 1995, the Greek participation in the regular work of the Convention was uninterrupted and intertwined with the objectives set by its Rules of Procedure, among which are: ensuring the understanding and adoption of the ideals of Black Sea Economic Cooperation, providing a legal basis for economic, trade, social, cultural and political cooperation between member countries, assisting national parliaments in strengthening parliamentary democracy.
It is the first time that a Greek parliamentary delegation will not participate in regular work and even a Plenary Session, given that its host country, Russia, in violation of all notions of international law, has unprovokedly attacked Ukraine, causing huge human and material losses.
The participating countries in the Convention are: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Northern Macedonia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Turkey.
