Greece was ranked 8th among the main investor countries in Romania in 2021

Greece ranks 8th among the top investor countries in Romania for 2021, according to recently announced data from the Romanian Commercial Registry, showing an increase in both invested capital and the number of registered companies. This is stated in an information document of the Bucharest Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs.

More specifically, according to the data of the Romanian Commercial Registry Office / Oficiul Național al Registrului Comerțului-ONRC, concerning the total foreign capital invested / FDI Stock in Romania, by country and number of companies for the total of 2021, it appears that the total investments / FDI Stock of Greece in Romania, amounted to 1.92 billion euros in December 2021, representing 4.19% of the total. At the same time, the number of Romanian companies with the participation of Greek capital amounts to 8,114, representing a percentage of 4.19% of the total.

It is also noted that in relation to 2020, the corresponding figures were: total investments / FDI Stock of Greece in Romania 1.75 billion euros and a percentage of 3.8% (significant increase 2021/2020 + 9.7%) , number of Romanian companies with participation of Greek capital, 7,847 companies, a percentage of 3.39% of the total (note increase 2021/2020 + 3.4% or 267 new companies).

At the same time and in terms of the overall picture, the total foreign investment of FDI Stock in Romania in 2021, reached 49.5 billion euros (2020 49.6 billion euros), while the number of Romanian companies with participation of foreign capital is at 236,847 (2020 230,976, 2021/2020 + 5,871 companies).

Regarding the 10 of the main investor countries for 2021, except Greece which as mentioned above is in 8th place, are:

1. Netherlands, FDI Stock 9.1 billion euros, total 19.2%

2. Austria, FDI Stock 5.3 billion euros, a total of 11.5%

3. Germany, FDI Stock 5.2 billion euros, a total of 11.2%

4. Cyprus, FDI Stock 4.7 billion euros, percentage in total 10.2%

5. Italy, FDI Stock 2.9 billion euros, a total of 6.4%

6. France, FDI Stock 2.4 billion euros, a total of 5.2%

7. Luxembourg, FDI Stock 2.2 billion euros, a total of 4.8%

9. Spain, FDI Stock 1.5 billion euros, percentage in total 3.3%

10. Switzerland, FDI Stock 1.5 billion euros, percentage in total 3.3%
