The Permanent Representative of Greece to NATO made a strict protest to the Secretary General of NATO, on the occasion of the post of the NATO Land Forces Headquarters regarding the day of the Turkish armed forces, which coincides with the defeat of the Greek forces in Asia Minor on 1922.
In its announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterizes this post as inappropriate and unacceptable. “At the same time, the Greek military authorities in NATO will make a similar representation at the Supreme Headquarters of NATO (SHAPE), which also includes the Headquarters of the Land Forces,” the announcement adds.
In a post on Twitter, NATO’s Land Forces Headquarters wrote: “Happy Victory Day. Today marks 100 years of Turkish independence. We join our Turkish allies across NATO and beyond in celebrating their Victory and the Day of Turkish Armed Forces”
