Hellinikons Chrysos continues the essential support of the local community of NE Halkidiki, responding continuously and consistently to the priorities and needs of the Municipality of Aristotelis and its residents, in the context of the responsible mining activity it carries out. At the same time, the company’s obligation is the annual yield of mining fees for its activity, which is calculated based on the law (Government Gazette 1800 B/1.7.14.) according to which it is provided that 20% of the total calculated fees will be attributed to relevant Municipality where the mining activity takes place.
Following last year’s decision for 2020, when and due to the extraordinary conditions and needs that arose, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINE) decided to double this percentage to 40%, a similar decision was also made for 2021, which means that in funds of the Municipality of Aristotelis will be awarded around 2.4 million euros, out of the 6,037,453 euros in Mining Rights that our company will give to the Greek State in total for 2021. It is worth noting that according to the annual report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Quarrying and Mining activity in Greece, in 2020 the Municipality of Aristoteli, due to the activity of Hellinikons Chrysos within its Administrative limits, received 75.67% of all the proportionate revenues in favor of Municipalities from the exploitation of mines in the country.
This is a particularly important development, which is expected to decisively strengthen the work and infrastructure of the Municipality in a period of increased demands and complex challenges from the inflationary pressures exerted and the particularly increased energy costs.
It is recalled that in addition to its contractual obligations, Hellinikon Chrysos continued in 2021 its environmental and social investments in the Municipality of Aristotelis, implementing more than 20 projects and over 50 actions, with a total value of 1.3 million euros, remaining a constant helper in the improvement the everyday life and the quality of life of the residents of the Municipality.
The above actions complement the extensive work that has been implemented in the previous years in the region with the total investments in the last decade amounting to around 25 million euros. Finally, it is worth noting that in the context of the New Investment Agreement, Hellinikos Chrysos has committed to implement emblematic investments of 80 million dollars in social welfare and local development projects, always in collaboration with the local community, in an innovative and ambitious social investment program , which will stimulate the development of the area and will be a legacy for future generations.
