The completion of the evaluation of the application submitted by TRENITALIA SpA – parent company of TRAINOSE – for the certification of the ETR470 train was announced by the Railway Regulatory Authority, emphasizing that it carried out a thorough control of the submitted application. the installation of the sand dispersion system in the two engine units of the vehicle to be approved.
After the submission of all the updated documents by TRENITALIA SpA related to the aforementioned security issues raised by RAS, the evaluators of the Authority proceeded again to a detailed examination of the file.
The evaluation process was completed within the stipulated schedule, based on the last extension given. According to the result of the evaluation, the dossier of the submitted application is complete, in terms of the provisions of the relevant European and national legislation.
After the completion of the evaluation procedures of the file of the company TRENITALIA SpA, the Plenary Session of RAS decided to proceed with the following actions which complete the certification process of the ETR470 train:
– To authorize the president of RAS Ioanna Tsiaparikou to sign the decision of granting vehicle approval for placing on the market as well as the vehicle type approval.
– To grant vehicle approval for placing on the market as well as type approval, to the vehicle.
Finally, the RAS assessors are instructed to take the necessary steps in order to register the vehicle in the relevant registers, ie the European Register of Approved Rail Vehicle Types and the National Vehicle Register.
It is noted that TRAINOSE has brought five trains of this type for a year now in order to be launched on the Athens-Thessaloniki line.
After approval by the RAS, their launch is expected to be immediate.
