In summary, the project includes:

pipelines with diameters Φ500-Φ700, approximately 8,000 m long

2) Dam Ag. Ioannis Ierapetras of Lasithi Prefecture and basic projects for the utilization of Irrigation Water with a construction budget of €31.3 million.

The dam is made of stone and is located in the southwestern foothills of Mount Thryptis, at a distance of about 1.5 km south of the settlement of Ag. Ioannis and about 8.5 km northeast of the city of Ierapetra. The reservoir will be paid from the runoff of the hydrological basin of the stream Ag. Ioannis, with an area of 5.7km2, which are estimated at 600,000m3 per year and from hydromassage of about 1,275,000m3 of water from the springs of Psychro, which are discharged into the neighboring basin of the stream Ag. Fire.

Below is a summary of the main elements concerning the planning of the distribution projects:

The irrigation networks will operate according to the free demand method, according to which the growers are the ones who determine the time and duration of irrigation of their field.

The irrigated area concerns the areas near the settlements of Koutsounari, Ferma and Ag. Fire and St. John of the Local community of Ag. Ioannis of DE Ierapetra of the Municipality of Ierapetra N. Lasithi.

The above two irrigation projects are considered to be of particular importance for supporting the needs of local communities and their economies in Lasithi, which is the most dry thermal unit in the country.
