Greenland takes over the chair of the Arctic Council

The head of Greenland’s diplomacy today took over the presidency of the Arctic Council, the main field of transnational cooperation in the region until 2022, in a diplomatic environment that has become sensitive due to Greenland’s tensions and Russia’s exclusion. Council’s diplomatic activity, which includes the US, Canada and the five Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark (including Greenland and the islands of Faros), Finland and Iceland) is inactive after its 20th suspension.
