Grimes apologizes for problems at her Coachella show

Canadian singer Grimes apologized to fans on Sunday (14) after her Coachella show on Saturday (13) was plagued by technical problems that left her screaming in frustration into the microphone.

“I want to apologize for the technical issues with tonight’s show,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Normally, I always take care of all aspects of my show. To save time, this was one of the first times I outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm and let someone else organize the tracks on the SD card, etc.,” she added, referring to the software used by the DJ for her performances, which mix elements of synthpop and techno.

In videos posted on social media, Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, can be seen screaming in frustration several times, stopping songs and explaining to the audience that all of her tracks are in “double time,” making mixing difficult.

Eventually, the set was cut short early and Grimes left the stage midway through her popular song “Genesis,” according to outlets like Variety.

She later described it in her apology as “sonic chaos on my part, trying to guess how things were sounding to you.”

The incident sparked a mixed reaction online, with a viral post on .

Grimes added in her apology that she will “personally organize all files” this week, before her performance on the second weekend of Coachella, and that there were some “good lessons learned.”

“I will not let such a thing happen again,” she said. “I spent months on this show, making music and visuals, and I admit I'm not in a good mood. But yes, next week will be perfect, everything will be in my hands.”

“Please forgive me! Love always.”
