The Gross Value of Agricultural Production (GPV) in Brazil estimated for 2023 is R$ 1.212 trillion, representing an increase of 3% in relation to that projected for this year, informed this Wednesday (16) the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the general coordinator of Public Policies at the ministry, José Gasques, the advance in the projection stems from the forecast of better weather conditions for next year.
“Federal agencies, such as IBGE and Conab, point out that the climate will be better in 2023, which is good for agriculture,” said Gasques, in a note.
According to Conab’s forecast, soybean crops should expand over degraded pasture areas, showing a good recovery in grain production next year, after the drought reduced productivity in the South in 2022.
The ministry also stated that the VBP estimate for this year is R$ 1.176 trillion.
Mato Grosso leads the states with the highest VBP, followed by Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goiás.
Due to the losses with soybean planting in the South, the region lost the second position in the regional ranking to the Southeast.
