Group of 38 government officials will discuss solutions to climate change

The group that brings together representatives from 38 states and provinces will meet in Manaus (AM) between the 16th and 18th of March, when the 12th Annual Meeting of the Task Force of Governors for Climate and Forests takes place.

The idea of the meeting is to promote a broad debate on problems and solutions for climate change, in addition to the deforestation of tropical forests.

Amazonas was chosen to host the event in May 2019, during the last meeting of the group, held in Caquetá, Colombia, and which in 2022 resumes its activities after two years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Task Force’s annual meeting will be divided into thematic debates that align with the Manaus Action Plan (MAP), initially discussed last year at the Conference of the Parties, COP26, in Glasgow, Scotland.

The group is chaired by the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (PSC) and will have representatives from Colombia, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Spain and the United States.
