The Civil Police of Pernambuco arrested four people – a 21-year-old man and three women, aged 43, 40 and 20 – for the crime of qualified receiving of stolen goods. The arrest took place on Tuesday (17), after investigations into a series of robberies at pharmacies in Recife.
According to the police, the investigation team received information that the stolen products were being purchased by merchants at the Joana Bezerra Integrated Terminal, in the central area of Recife. Upon arriving at the location, the police confirmed the crime and those involved were taken to the police station.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the robbers were reselling the products to local merchants, who in turn offered the items to customers who frequented the terminal. One of the suspects questioned revealed that, after the robberies, the individuals divided up the goods and sold them locally.
Police monitored the receivers for days, observing their activities.
In addition to acquiring products from criminal groups, those involved also bought goods at swap meets in Greater Recife, at prices well below market value.
The suspects were taken to the police station with the seized materials, which total an estimated value of R$30,000, including personal hygiene and cleaning items.
Representatives of one of the affected pharmacies recognized some of the stolen products.
