Grumari Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, is among the 50 best in the world

Grumari in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro is among the 50 best beaches in the world to visit during summer holidays, according to the Big 7 Travel website, which specializes in tourism and gastronomy. The paradisiacal corner located 40 kilometers from Copacabana is the only beach in Brazil in the ranking.

The beach is in an area of environmental preservation and access by car is limited. With approximately 2.5 km of sand strip, Grumari is surrounded by several cliffs, hills and restinga vegetation.

In first place in the ranking is Playa Conchal, in Costa Rica and in second place is Turquoise Bay, in Australia, followed by Grace Bay, in the Turks and Caicos Islands; Siesta Beach, Florida (USA); and Punta Mosquito, in Holbox (Mexico). In addition to the Brazilian destination, the only other destination in South America to enter the ranking is Punta del’Este, in Uruguay.

The publication states that although Copacabana and Ipanema are famous, those who know it run to Grumari beach and highlight the beauty of the emerald green waters and the fine, golden sands. In addition, visitors can enjoy the beautiful landscape from the top of the overlook, little explored, in the right corner of the beach. The place is easily accessible and the ascent takes only three minutes.

The region has records of almost 270 species of birds and a significant presence of Atlantic Forest species that only exist in that region or are threatened with extinction.
