The company Rockstar Games announced, this Friday (2), the postponement of the Grand Theft Auto 6 to May 26, 2026 . Before, the game’s debut was scheduled to take place in September this year.
In a statement published on the official website, the company said it was still working to finish the game. They also lamented the delay and said they always “try to exceed expectations” in all releases.
“We hope we understand that we need this extra time to deliver the level of quality you expect and deserve,” said Rockstar Games.
The team also highlighted and thanked fans’ expectations for the new game, which had the latest version released 12 years ago.
“The interest and excitement around a new Grand Theft Auto have been truly rewarding for our entire team. We would like to thank your support and patience as we worked to finish the game,” he said.
The launch of the last GTA exceeded the mark of 185 million copies sold consolidating itself as one of the most marketed titles in history-behind Microsoft’s Minecraft only.
GTA 6 will have a couple of robbers, known as Lucia and Jason, who operates in Vice City – Fictitious Version of Florida in the United States. This will even be the first time the game has won a female protagonist. This information was confirmed after a game trailer leaked in December last year.
