A guardian counselor was temporarily arrested this Wednesday (18), suspected of committing sexual crimes against his stepdaughter, in Tijucas, about 55 kilometers from the capital Florianópolis (SC).
According to the Civil Police of Santa Catarina, last Monday two police reports were filed stating that the guardian counselor of Tijucas was “having sexual relations with his teenage stepdaughter”.
The police opened an investigation and discovered, through witnesses, that the young woman was suffering coercion and serious threats to maintain sexual relations, characterizing the crime of rape and rape of a vulnerable person as she was a minor.
After a favorable signal from the Public Ministry and the Justice, the councilor’s arrest was decreed.
He was found and arrested in a hotel in the municipality of Porto Belo, about 13 km from Tijucas. After his arrest, he was sent to the Penitentiary System, where he was placed at the disposal of the Santa Catarina Justice Department.
The officer responsible for the case emphasized the importance of not holding the agency in which the person under investigation is responsible.
“The Tijucas Guardianship Council and its members are not responsible for any possible misconduct on the part of the person under investigation. It is important to highlight that the body is of great importance in society, being a great partner of the Civil Police and that it has actively collaborated in the investigations so that everything can be quickly clarified.”
The guardianship councils were created in accordance with the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA) and aim to ensure compliance with the rights of young people under the age of 18.
