The PDT pre-candidate for president in this year’s elections, Ciro Gomes said live on Tuesday (14) that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, do not know how to contain inflation in the country and criticized the request that both made for supermarket owners to try avoid price increases in the coming months.
“Last week, Paulo Guedes and Bolsonaro had the nerve to ask supermarket representatives to freeze the prices of their goods. As Guedes and Bolsonaro have no idea how to contain inflation, they decided to relive the old days of [ex-presidente José] Sarney [referência ao Plano Cruzado, de 1986]. That’s not being afraid of ridicule”, said Ciro.
“Guedes knows that this [congelamento de preços] doesn’t solve anything, that he and Bolsonaro failed with an economic policy full of serious mistakes and now they want to cover the sun with a sieve and deceive the people until the elections”, continued the pedetista, who was Minister of Finance between September and December of 1994, during the Itamar Franco government and the beginning of the Real Plan.

Following the live, Ciro Gomes commented on data from recent surveys by Ipea and IBGE that point to the increase in poverty and hunger in the country and attributed the problem to the current and recent governments, including those of the PT.
“Don’t tell me that the debacle that is the Bolsonaro government explains everything. Because that’s not true. We have to be honest, there are many culprits and many accomplices in this story. It is the case of all those who kept the same economic model and tried to deceive the people by selling spectacular feats that, in fact, were chicken flights”, declared Ciro – he was also a minister in the first government of former President Luiz Inácio Lula. da Silva (PT), between 2003 and 2006, commanding the portfolio of National Integration.
The pedetista again said that Bolsonaro and Lula avoid participating in debates and called both of them to discuss the country’s economic problems.
