Economy Minister Paulo Guedes asked the Chamber’s Commission on Work, Administration and Services to back down from his summons to provide clarifications on his offshore tax haven.
“I come to ask for your understanding and kindness so that the information provided through the documents presented, on November 9, 2021, to this Committee on Labor, Administration and Public Service is accepted as sufficient”, says the minister’s letter sent to the committee this Friday (12).
Initially, Guedes should have been heard by three committees of the House last Wednesday (10), but he said he would not go. With this, the audience was rescheduled for Tuesday (16), when the minister accompanies President Jair Bolsonaro on the international agenda.
On Thursday (11), federal deputy Elias Vaz (PSB-GO) said he was preparing a representation to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) against the Minister of Economy. According to the congressman, author of the request to summon Guedes to the Financial Oversight and Control Commission, he committed a crime of responsibility by not appearing at the hearings.
When contacted, the Chamber’s Commission on Work, Administration and Service informed that the hearing will be rescheduled for when the minister returns from Dubai. The return is scheduled for the 23rd of November.
