Guedes says Brazil should be the second country in digital government ranking

The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said that Brazil should soon become the second country in the ranking of digital governments in the world. The minister participated in an event organized by the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB), this Tuesday (25). According to Guedes, Brazil currently occupies seventh place in the world ranking of digital government.

“I’m giving it first hand here, we’re going to go up a lot in this ranking, this study is being done at the World Bank, and apparently Brazil is moving from seventh place to second in the world. Brazil is the first in the Americas, and it will possibly be the second best digital government in the world.”, says the minister.

Guedes points out, however, that this is still preliminary information and the result is not official, but he guarantees that Brazil is increasingly stronger internationally.

Also during the conversation, Guedes attributed to “PT members within the ministry” the leak of a study carried out by the ministry, on withdrawing from the Individual Income Tax (IRPF) the forecast of deductions for medical and educational expenses.

The minister had already denied the information to the analyst of CNN , Gustavo Uribe. Guedes’ answer refers to an article published this Tuesday (25) by the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo. The report brings the information that the team of the Minister of Economy defended in writing the end of discounts on medical and education expenses in the IRPF.

According to the minister, he himself refused to change the deductions, which were even studied when the federal government sent the tax reform proposal to the National Congress in 2020.

Guedes also reiterated that the government will give readjustments to the minimum wage, pensions, BPC and civil servants’ wages adjusted for inflation, and even with a real increase.
