A tourist couple found a hidden camera in a hotel room at a resort where they were staying in Porto de Galinhas, on the coast of Pernambuco. The case happened on January 17th and is being investigated by the Civil Police of Pernambuco.
According to police, the tourists noticed the equipment when they noticed a light in one of the room's sockets. When they looked closely, they realized that there was a recording device in the room, which was pointed at the double bed in the room. “The purpose, it seems, was to capture scenes of sexual intercourse from everyone who used the room”, said delegate Ney Luiz Rodrigues in conversation with the CNN .
According to the delegate, there was a memory card attached to the device. There is no way to measure when the device was installed, but the police rule out that the property owners were responsible for the installation.
According to Dr. Rodrigues, responsible for the investigation, the case will be investigated as an “unauthorized recording of sexual intimacy”.
How the equipment was located
According to the couple's report when the incident was registered, the accommodation began on January 13th. From the beginning, tourists noticed that there was a socket in front of the couple's bed, the use of which was made impossible by the wooden panel that covered it, preventing it from being used.
On January 17th, the couple was using their cell phone's flashlight, as they suspected there were cockroaches on the television panel. At one point, the cell phone's flashlight reflected off a point in the socket. When they dismantled the socket, they realized that it was a “spy camera”.
When searching the internet for the camera model found, they realized that the models sold online offer recording and also real-time transmission of the recordings, via the internet. After that, they went to the police.
