Guterres: Growing consensus among international community in favor of ceasefire and against ground operation in Rafah

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said today during his visit to Jordan that there is a growing consensus among the international community in favor of the need for a ceasefire in the war in the Gaza Strip and against a ground operation in Rafah. As he pointed out, a ground operation may cause a humanitarian disaster. “We are seeing a growing consensus among the international community to emphasize to the Israelis that a ceasefire is needed, and I also see a growing consensus – I've heard it in the US, I've heard it from the EU, not to mention of course the Muslim world – to say clearly to the Israelis that any a ground operation in Rafa may cause a humanitarian disaster”, underlined Antonio Guterres during a press conference as reported by the Athens News Agency citing Reuters.
