Hackers successfully attack Google Chrome browser, exploiting security vulnerabilities.
Google has confirmed the attack in a post on its blog, revealing that 30 new security vulnerabilities have been discovered in Chrome, seven of which it says are a “high” level of threat to users. They affect Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile.
As is common practice in these cases, Google is currently restricting vulnerability information until there is a browser update.
Use After Free (UAF) attacks continue to be the best way to break Chrome. 11 of Chrome’s 30 security vulnerabilities are via UAF (Memory Exploitation). This attack method has been used to break Chrome security over 65 times in 2022.
To protect users, Google will release a new version within the next few days-weeks.
Google recently admitted that the number of successful breaches of Chrome and other browsers and platforms is increasing. The big tech companies are increasingly working together to combat this growing threat, although to be successful, due diligence from users is also required.
