Hacker attack takes down systems of Rio de Janeiro city hall

The city hall of Rio de Janeiro detected a hacker attack on the city’s systems in the early hours of Monday (16). The official website and services of Carioca Digital have been preventively suspended.

In a statement, the city government informed that the Iplan team (municipal IT company) is working to recover the municipal datacenter. There is no timetable for the restoration of the system.

At the Municipal Health Department, patient care and Sisreg – a program to regulate care in public health units – were not affected, but some health units that work with the Iplan network were unable to insert exam requests and consultations in regulatory systems.

There was no suspension of classes due to the hacker attack on the municipal school system. The CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Centers) have their systems down for the registration of CadÚnico. The Operations Center, 1746 and the Taxi Rio app operate normally.

Still in the statement, the prefecture asks for the understanding of the population and emphasizes that Iplan servers work so that the system returns to normal as soon as possible.
