Recall that information about the bridge hack appeared on August 6, 2024. The loss was estimated at 4,000 ETH, just over $9.3 million at that time.
Some experts suggested that the attack was a coincidence and that a MEV bot was behind it. Project co-founder Alexander Larsen noted that the likely hacker contacted the team.
He turned out to be a white hat hacker who notified the developers about the exploit. On the evening of August 6, he returned 3,991 ETH, according to Etherscan.
At the time of writing, Ethereum (ETH) is trading at $2,520. Taking this into account, the said volume of crypto assets is valued at $10.05 million.
According to the Ronin team, they expect the hacker to transfer the rest of the funds soon. They also said that he will receive a reward of $500,000.
A similar situation happened with the Rho Markets lending protocol based on the Scroll network. It was also hacked by a MEV bot, whose owners later returned all funds.
