According to Etherscan, the hacker who previously hacked Tornado Cash began withdrawing the stolen funds. Last night, May 24, he transferred 100 ETH and 38.3 thousand TORN through the mixer.
As of Thursday morning, May 25, the hacker is still in control of the DAO. Earlier, he put forward a proposal to “roll back” the attack, but skeptics consider this to be trolling and an attempt to “pump” the TORN rate before draining the tokens.
And it worked, at least partially. The TORN rate jumped by 10% at the moment. Then it rolled back, but the final price is still at a level higher than at the time of the hack.
The identity of the hacker and his motives are still unknown. The loophole he exploited does not directly affect the service protocol. However, the DAO and the Treasury of the organization are still in the hands of the criminal.
Voting on the cracker’s proposal ends tomorrow, May 26th. Since the rest of the holders do not have the opportunity to change something, it will be automatically accepted. Some members of the community harbor the hope that the hacker will still regain control of the organization, satisfied with the “loot” received.
At the moment, he received, approximately, $ 343 thousand. The wallet allegedly linked to the hacker has 20 ETH left. There was no activity on it after the specified transactions were completed.
