Hacker who hacked Twitter accounts to get BTC admitted his guilt

Eighteen-year-old American Graham Ivan Clark pleaded guilty to several cases of hacking Twitter accounts through which he published calls to transfer bitcoins to him.

In his publications, Clarke reported that as part of the “PR-action”, all BTC sent to his wallet will be sent back in double size. At the same time, he published calls on the accounts of the most popular people and companies on Twitter. He gained access to the accounts of Apple, US President Joe Biden and former US President Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Michael Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates.

Clarke pleaded guilty to account hacking. At the same time, since at the time of the break-in he was a minor, then within the framework of the deal with prosecutors, his term of imprisonment will be only three years. If he was an adult at the time of the incident, he would have received at least ten years in prison. Hillsborough Attorney Andrew Warren noted:

“Graham needs to be held accountable for his crimes and other potential fraudsters need to see the consequences. In this case, we were able to provide the perpetrator with such consequences, while at the same time pursuing the goal of making him learn a lesson, but not ruining his future. ”

According to investigators, Clark was assisted by two other people. As a result of the hacks, 30.4 BTC were transferred to the criminals’ wallet, of which 56% were subsequently passed through the Chip Mixer and the Wasabi wallet to hide the source of the funds.

As a reminder, Twitter accounts were hacked on July 15, 2020. After that, many cryptocurrency exchanges blocked the scammer’s wallet on their platforms so that gullible users could not send funds there.
