The Mato Grosso do Sul Civil Police arrested three men suspected of integrating a criminal organization specializing in bank fraud which would have diverted about R $ 60,000 from the Juliano Varela Association, a philanthropic institution that serves children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities in Campo Grande.
The action, named Operation “Juliano Varela”, was triggered on Monday (5) in cities of the state of São Paulo.
According to the Specialized Police Station for Bank Theft, Assaults and Kidnapping (Claws), the amount diverted had been passed on to the entity by the Municipal Health Fund. Using electronic devices and digital invasion techniques, criminals were able to access the association’s bank account and subtract the amount.
Investigations indicate that the group consists of at least six members, all from the state of São Paulo, with a history of involvement in similar crimes for over 20 years. In the last five years alone, the gang would have moved more than $ 30 million in fraud.
With the support of the DOPE Capture Division, the São Bernardo do Campo Special Operations Group (GOE) and the Botucatu DIG, 11 search and seizure warrants and 6 temporary arrest warrants were fulfilled. Three suspects were arrested: a 49 -year -old man in Botucatu, another 33, in Sao Paulo, and another 45, in Diadema.
During the searches, cell phones, notebooks, computers and memory cards compatible with those used in the fraud were seized. The other investigated are on the run, but are under monitoring of the claws’ intelligence nucleus.
