Hackers hacked the president of President Paraguay Santiago Peki on the social network X, publishing a message that a cryptocurrency reserve has been created in the country for $ 5 million, and Bitcoin was recognized as legal payment.

Hackers said that in addition to the legalization of bitcoin, the Paraguay government opened a national program with bonds for citizens who own cryptocurrencies. The announcement reported that Bitcoin would be integrated into the state financial system and will be used along with Paraguayan Guarani. For greater believability, crackers used the state coat of arms of Paraguay.

Users were invited to invest in the program by sending any amount to the cryptocurrency address indicated by the attackers in the message. Hackers argued that the further scale of the deployment of this project depends on the collected investments. The presidential administration later warned subscribers about suspicious activities with the presidential account, and stated that this information is false. Soon, fraudulent post was removed. Fortunately, from the moment of his publication, no transactions were recorded at the address specified by the hacker – it is stored only $ 4.

After this announcement, Bitcoin grew by 4%, exceeding the $ 109,500 mark. Now the market capitalization of the first cryptocurrency has $ 2.17 trillion.

Recently, the Paraguay authorities have concluded an agreement with Salvador, where bitcoin is already used as a legal payment tool to enhance control over the crypto industry. Regulators will monitor suspicious transactions with cryptocurrencies to prevent illegal activities. Earlier, Paraguayan senators proposed not to prohibit the production of cryptocurrencies in the country, but to sell excess electricity to miners.
