Finance Minister Fernando Haddad (PT) commented on the possibility of a mechanism to facilitate commercial transactions with Argentina to limit dependence on the dollar.
The explanation was given during the arrival of the presidential delegation to Buenos Aires, at the hotel where president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the ministers are staying to participate in the Summit of CELAC, Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
In conversation with journalists, Haddad explained that the idea is to create a mechanism to reduce trade difficulties between Brazil and Argentina and confirmed that he spoke with the country’s Minister of Economy, Sérgio Massa on the subject.
Massa granted an interview to the Financial Times commenting on the subject, but compared it to the euro, which generated noise with interlocutors from the Brazilian government.
“This is why we are racking our brains to find a solution. Something in common, something that allows us to increase trade because Argentina is one of the countries that buy manufactured goods from Brazil and our exports to Brazil are falling”, he declared.
