The forecast of heavy rain for the capital of Minas Gerais this Wednesday (22) came true. Five regions of Belo Horizonte (MG) recorded rain “extremely strong” with a volume greater than 1 millimeter per minute, according to the Municipal Civil Defense.
The northwest region of the city was one of the hardest hit. On Rua Contagem, in Bairro Nova Vista, roofs came loose due to the force of the wind and hit properties and electrical wiring on roads.
The storm was accompanied by heavy rain. The agency warned residents in the region about the risk and recommended that people not stay in open places or under trees. Watch the video
The state of Minas Gerais was under orange storm warning, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The risk was of winds of up to 100 km/h this Wednesday (22).
The alert remains in force, with lower risk, for part of the state this Thursday (23).
