Hailey Bieber it’s a river in full flood during the last interview for W Magazine. The founder of Rhode, expecting for the first time, she let herself go with intimate, frank and surprising revelations.
It was not missed a rare comment on the family of origin: the Baldwins. Hailey is the daughter of Stephen and Kennya Baldwin, sister of Alaia Baldwin, and niece of Alec, Daniel, and Billy Baldwin.
Earlier this year, before the trendsetter and husband Justin Bieber revealed on IG that they were soon to be parents, her dad posted a cryptic social media post asking users to pray for the couple, fueling speculation that the two were on the rocks.
Hailey Bieber had promptly denied the rumors and has now admitted: “I’m not very close to my family at this time in my life, I’m very independent and I’m in the process of building my own. When I look back on my childhood, though, I have some good memories.”
About her pregnancy, she said that for a while she thought about hiding it, just like her best friend Kylie Jenner managed to do so masterfully until she gave birth. Then, however, she changed her mind: “I could have hidden it until the end but I wasn’t a fan of the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy openly. It felt like I was hiding a big secret and I didn’t feel comfortable. I wanted the freedom to live my life.”
The baby bump? It wasn’t very visible until the sixth month, when she decided to reveal it to the world, no longer hiding it in oversized clothes and elegantly wrapping it in true it-girl outfits.
But not even such a beautiful and profound moment stops the couple’s haters from continuous comments and theories about their imminent divorce or their lack of complicity: “Oh they’re falling apart. They hate each other. They’re breaking up. That’s what they say, it’s like people don’t want to believe that we’re really happy.” Hailey reflects and then adds: “I used to pretend that they hit me less and less. I tried to think that, at a certain point, you get used to it but… I realize that, in reality, it never hurts less.”
