The latest data from Canalys shows that global shipments of PCs, including tablets, fell 7% year-on-year to 133.7 million units in the fourth quarter of 2021. Despite this drop, 2021 was a record-breaking year for PCs and tablets, with total yearly shipments up 9% to just under half a billion units. Chromebooks and tablets, which have been engines of growth during the pandemic, saw a sharp but expected annual decline in shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021, primarily due to high saturation in the consumer and education segments. Tablet shipments fell 21% year-on-year to 41.9 million units, while Hormbook shipments fell 66.3% to 4.0 million units. For all of 2021, Chromebook shipments increased by 10%, while tablet shipments decreased by 1.6%.

At the end of the year, Lenovo became the leader in the PC market, including desktop computers, laptops and tablets. Having increased deliveries by 15%, it shipped 99.666 million units and occupied 20.0% of the market. In 2020, Lenovo was equal to 18.9%.
Apple is in second place. It increased deliveries by 10.6%, as a result of which its share increased from 17.7% to 18.0%.
HP is in third place. It increased shipments by 9.3%, which is close to the market as a whole, so the share of HP has not changed. It is approximately equal to 14.8%.
Next comes Dell. Having increased deliveries by 18.0%, it was able to increase its share from 11.0% to 11.9%.
Closes the top five Samsung. The South Korean manufacturer increased supplies by only 2.8%. This led to a decrease in its share from 7.6% to 7.1%.
