Halsey (29) has been fighting her battle with lupus and leukemia for about two years. She revealed it herself on her IG profile. Here she shared a series of photos and videos, a virtual but real window into the lives of those who, like her, live with these debilitating diseases.
The interpreter of Without Me mentioned two organizations that specialize in treatment and opted for a concise but direct caption for the post: “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Long story short, I wrote an album.”
Music, once again, is like medicine for the soul, a distraction from the pain, like the one that affects her legs, which she massages vigorously in the video, while she jokes about her current condition and fantasizes about her future plans: «I told myself that I will give myself another two years to deal with the disease. At thirty I will be reborn, I won’t be sick, I will be super sexy and full of energy. I’ll just be able to relive my twenties when I’m thirty.”
Halsey was overwhelmed by a wave of love, the fandom invaded her social networks with comments of supporteven some colleagues wanted to say a few words of comfort for her, like Katy Perry who wrote: “I love you sweet girl”.
The singer, moved by the affection received, published another post: “ANDI’m hesitant about how much to reveal about the matter but you’ve been so kind that I want to tell you more. In 2022 I was diagnosed with lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both are currently treated and in remission, but I will be affected by both probably for the rest of my life. After a difficult start, I slowly got everything under control, with the help of amazing doctors. After two years I feel better and more grateful than ever to have music. I can’t wait to go back there, to the place that belongs to me: with all of you, singing and screaming at the top of my lungs.”
