Hamas announced that it had repelled an operation to free hostages

The Ezzedine Al Qassam Brigades, its armed wing Hamasannounced that they had repelled a hostage rescue operation by Israeli special forces in Gaza Stripthat the Israeli team suffered heavy casualties and a hostage was killed in the incident.

“We will not comment on the psychological warfare that Hamas continues to wage against the people of Israel,” Israeli government spokesman Eilon Levi said during a press briefing when asked about it.

“We hold Hamas fully responsible for the safety and health of these hostages”he added, repeating the Israeli request that the Red Cross be given access to visit the hostages.

The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades announced via Telegram that its forces discovered an Israeli army special forces unit conducting a rescue operation and attacked it, killing and injuring several soldiers. They did not specify the location of the incident.

Although Hamas’ armed wing announced the killing of an Israeli soldier hostage identified as Sha’ar Baruch, the list of hostages released by Israel includes civilian student Sahar Baruch, 24.
