Hamas announced today that it had co-signed a “national unity” agreement in Beijing with other Palestinian factions, including rival Fatah, a text that China says provides for the formation of a unified government after the war in the Gaza Strip ends. A total of 14 Palestinian factions participated in the negotiations in recent days in Beijing, within the limits of a new effort, under the auspices of China, to find a compromise, to put aside the differences between the various components of the Palestinian political scene.
