Hamas claimed responsibility for the shooting attack that left three people dead in Jerusalem, this Thursday (30). Seven other people were injured.
According to a statement from the radical group, the action was in response to the deaths of women and children in Gaza since the start of the war.
“A direct response to the unprecedented crimes committed by occupation forces, including brutal massacres in the Gaza Strip, the murder of children in Jenin and widespread rapes against Palestinian prisoners. In addition, the continued violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the prevention of access by the faithful to it”, says the note.
According to police, the incident took place near a bus stop in East Jerusalem, an area claimed by Palestinians.

“The terrorists are from East Jerusalem. They were armed with an M-16 rifle and a pistol. They arrived in a car and opened fire on civilians,” said Police Chief Doron Turgeman.
According to authorities, the shooters were killed by two soldiers and a civilian who were there at the time of the attack.
One of the victims was pronounced dead by the Magen David Adom rescue service and two others died at Shaare Zedek hospital.
Among the injured, two are in critical condition in hospital.
In a post on X, former US ambassador to Israel Jack Lew said: “We condemn this brutal violence.”
