Hamas is discussing the release of other “civilian” hostages

The organization Hamas announced today that it was working with “mediators” to free the “civilian” hostages taken during its October 7 attack on Israeli soil and currently being held in Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued after the release of two American women, a mother and daughter, the Palestinian Islamist organization says it is “working with all involved mediators to implement the movement’s decision to close the civilian (hostage) file when security conditions permit.” .

The two women are the first hostages to be released by Hamas.

From Washington, the president of the USA Joe Biden, declared “overjoyed” for the release of the two American women. “Our compatriots have experienced a terrible ordeal in the last 14 days and I am overjoyed that they will soon be reunited with their families,” he said, thanking Qatar and Israel for their cooperation. He also promised that the US would not stop its efforts “until the rest of the American hostages come home”.
