Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’ political cabinet, said on Friday that the radical Islamic group is ready to defeat Israeli forces if they enter the Gaza Strip.
“If [o primeiro-ministro Benjamin] Netanyahu decides to enter [com tropas terrestres em] Gaza to the ground tonight, the resistance is ready,” said al-Rishq.
His comments came after Israel announced it was expanding ground operations in the enclave.
The measure came after a rocket sent by Hamas hit a residential building in the west of Tel Aviv and caused a fire.
The announcement comes at a time when the CNN reports that a large series of explosions hit Gaza City on Friday night.
IDF troops are “operating in force” on all fronts in order to achieve their objectives in the war with Hamas, and “will continue attacking Gaza City and calling on civilians to evacuate the south,” Hagari said.
