Hamas official invites Elon Musk to visit Gaza Strip

A Hamas official invited, this Tuesday (28), American billionaire Elon Musk to visit the Gaza Strip and see the extent of the destruction caused by Israeli bombings in the region.

“We invite you to visit Gaza to see the extent of the massacres and destruction committed against the people of Gaza, in accordance with standards of objectivity and credibility,” senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said at a press conference in Beirut.

On Monday (27), Musk visited a kibbutz attacked by Hamas last month and declared his commitment to do whatever is necessary to stop the spread of hate.

The billionaire, who owns the social network X, recently suffered attacks for supporting an anti-Semitic publication.

Hamdan’s comments come a day after the truce between Israel and Hamas was extended for another 48 hours.

“In 50 days, Israel dropped more than 40,000 tons of explosives on the homes of defenseless Gaza residents. I appeal to US President Biden to review the US relationship with Israel and stop supplying weapons”, he pondered.

Speaking about the destruction in Gaza, Hamdan called on the international community to quickly deploy specialized civil defense teams to help recover the bodies still trapped under the rubble.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thousands of people are still trapped.

The truce agreed last week was the first halt in fighting in the seven weeks since Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking some 240 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli data.

In response to the attack, Israel bombed the enclave and launched a ground offensive in the north. At least 16,000 Palestinians have been killed, Palestinian health authorities say, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
