Other hostages released
The release of the second group of hostages was resumed after Israel and Hamas resolved impasses and disputes over terms were agreed this Saturday (25). Hamas had postponed the handover of the second group of hostages in the morning after accusing Israel of preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.
The measure occurred amid an agreement between Israel and Hamas, which provides for a four-day truce in fighting in Gaza.
Another 24 hostages had already been released by Hamas on Friday (24). In exchange, the Israeli government released 39 Palestinian prisoners, according to the Israel Prison Service.
The group was released after 49 days of captivity and were welcomed by a crowd of Israelis.
In total, the expectation is that 50 hostages will be able to reunite with their families in the coming days. The Israeli government believes that 240 people of various nationalities were under the power of Hamas since October 7th.
