Hamas says he is ready to negotiate second phase of the ceasefire agreement

A source from Hamas’s political office said on Monday (3) that the group is ready to get involved in indirect negotiations with Israel to implement the second phase of ceasefire and a possible new prisoner exchange for hostage.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that Hamas has fulfilled all the terms of the resolution and is ready to start indirect negotiations with Israel to finalize the second phase.

According to the three-phase ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas last month, negotiations to implement the second phase should begin before the 16th day of the first phase, which took place on Monday.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to Washington on Sunday to meet US President Donald Trump.

Media reports indicate that Netanyahu decided to postpone a negotiating team to Qatar for conversations about the second phase until after his meeting with Trump.

Since the truce came into force on January 19, Hamas released 18 hostages in exchange for Israel to free hundreds of Palestinians from their arrests.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid stated on Monday (3) that negotiations for the second phase of ceasefire resolution should start as soon as possible.

Regarding the beginning of negotiations for the second phase of the Gaza agreement, Lapid exclaimed that there are currently no political obstacles within Israel, and opposition is willing to support the implementation of each phase.

Netanyahu must promptly start discussions related to the new stage of the resolution.
