In the end he always wins: the hamburger remains the most famous of the sandwiches. The most loved, as well as the most famous, and the only one with a one world day: the May 28. The masters of the festivities remain the United States, who cleared customs these two slices of stuffed bread, imported by immigrants from the port of Hamburg (where the meatball has long been the favorite street food), but we we defend very well.
In the year that the restaurants were mostly closed due to the lockdown, we “comforted” with one record amount of burgers ordered at home with delivery: Deliveroo says orders have grown by +139% e JustEat tells of over 295,000 kg of hamburgers for a growth of +27% compared to 2019. Both delivery services then agree on another fact: in addition to the classic meat burgers, while sustainability becomes (finally) central in the public debate, the great revelation of the year were the alternative burgers with vegetable and vegan or vegetarian proteins (plus 97% for Deliveroo and + 22% for Just Eat)
For this reason, to celebrate Hamburger Day in a big way, we asked a prescription – which you can find in the gallery above – a Flower Burger: the first Italian veganburgheria, born in Milan (in the city the last one opened is the Flower Burger in Corso Garibaldi) and which has now arrived in the world with addresses also in USA, UK and Holland. The formula is the same: rooms full of color that bring joy, where you can taste snacks and sandwiches made by hand with spices and vegetables that naturally give shades such as yellow or fuchsia, and filled with b100% vegan urger made with legumes, tufu and more.
For the Hamburger Day Flower Burger has revealed a simplified recipe for one of his most loved sandwiches: the Funky Cecio. It’s a chickpea burger wrapped in a multigrain bread with veg mayonnaise, salad and tomatoes. Very easy to do, and also light. To see the recipe, browse the gallery
