It is possible to be happy at work. This is the opinion of Renata Rivetti, happiness specialist and director of Reconnect Happiness at Work, in an interview with CNN Radio.
According to Rivetti, however, “many companies think that a colorful environment, giving parties and gifts to employees” are enough to guarantee employee satisfaction.
“Happiness is related to a purpose, having positive relationships, supporting people, enjoying what you do,” he added.
In the same way, in her assessment, work can no longer be associated with a burden: “It is time to review and understand that work can be a source of fulfillment and purpose in our lives”.
Renata emphasizes that it is necessary, first of all, to have a good structure, with a legal environment and salary on time, since “people need it”.
Even so, a fundamental issue is “feeling that there is a purpose in the company. You certainly need the basic needs, so you can think about self-actualization.”
The expert also believes that there is no more room for fear-based power relationships in front of bosses. “For decades we were afraid and thought it was normal, but the new generation no longer accepts that.”
“We need to work on relationships, raising awareness and educating people. Leaders need this new awareness and this is happening, companies are changing,” she said.
