Hard US-Turkey poker for the concession of F-16s – The latest scenarios

The mind game continues between the US and Turkey for the provision of the new F-16s, as well as the modernization of the old ones that Ankara has.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbul, scenarios are circulating in Turkey that want Washington to request the concession of some of the old Turkish F-16s to Ukraine. to give the ‘green light’ to the deal.

“America may try to delay us a little longer, but I think that some points in the American backroom discussions, especially in the Pentagon, are not acceptable at this time. But we may come across such an offer:

Turkey should give its old F16s to Ukraine, we should [σσ. οι ΗΠΑ] to give new F16 to Turkey’. Turkey should not fall into this trap, because Poland gave its old Russian aircraft to Ukraine, that is, if you remember, when the first war started, nobody wanted to give aircraft to Ukraine. Now Ukraine is looking for F-16. And some of the F16s in Turkey are old. These are the aircraft that are on the agenda for modernization,” said analyst Cetiner Cetin.

“The picture we have with Greece is clear. Greece with the military base in Alexandroupoli, with the Souda base, with its military presence in Cyprus with its presence in the Aegean islands and their militarization, is trying to gain a position at the front in favor of its own interests and in a cunning way exploits the tension that Turkey has with the West. This is dangerous. The question I want to ask is what will happen if the HIMARS tactical missile systems are installed in these places, as in Cyprus, and we are attacked. If we try to hurt them, will we have hurt the US? And another question is if the Greeks attempt to attack us from the islands or from the Aegean, and when we attempt a land attack against us will we find the Americans?”

Abdullah Agar, a military analyst and professor at Bahcesehir University, said in his analysis on a television show:
