The funeral procession of the hero Reserve Antipaspistis (Infantry) Charalambos Karagounis, which was performed at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin, in his hometown, Ancient Olympia, was attended today, Sunday, December 12, by the Undersecretary of National Defense Nikos.
Reservist Charalambos Karagounis fell fighting for his faith and homeland in 1974, during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
The transfer and official reception ceremony of his remains took place this year on November 25 at the Dhekelia air base, after the completion of the search and identification process, within the framework of the exhumation program of the Commission of Inquiry (CMP) and the corresponding program of the Republic of Cyprus.
