Harry and Meghan promise to reduce their carbon emissions to zero (by 2030)

In the beautiful video message to Cop26, Queen Elizabeth ignored Harry e Meghan Markle. His Majesty praised the battles for “our fragile planet” waged by her husband Philip, son Carlo and nephew William. To the Sussexes, on the other hand, he did not even dedicate a word. But the prince and his wife, who they have always called themselves environmentalists – even though they have been accused several times, given their passion for private jets, of being green only in words – they immediately tried to take back the scene. With a message posted on their Archewell foundation web page in which they commit to “Reduce carbon emissions to zero” by 2030 produced by all the activities that concern them.

The Sussexes explain online that “almost every human activity results in carbon release.” But they, they swear, from now on they will be careful about everything, even what they eat and “how often” they eat it. As well as the carbon emissions related to theirs displacements and al warm up of their people (including, supposedly, that of the $ 14 million California villa where they live with their children Archie e Lilibet Diana).

The real experts interviewed by the Daily Mail have no doubts: the Sussex’s ambitious mission statement appears to be a timely reply to the message in which the Queen ignored them. Elizabeth spoke of Filippo, green ahead of everyone, and of Carlo and William who, having collected the inheritance of their beloved husband who died last April, fill it «with pride“. The decision not to name the Sussex, who have always declared themselves champions of the environment, has not escaped anyone. Not even those directly involved, apparently.

All the more so as there seems to be one going on between Cambridge and Sussex popularity battle which for months has had as its object precisely for the salvation of planet Earth. At the moment the balance seems to be tipping in favor of the former, protagonists unlike the “rivals” at the Cop26 in Glasgow (where their first engagement was as a scout). Not only: both Sussex and Cambridge are personally involved in environmental protection projects, but William and Kate’s initiatives so far have gotten through more attention compared to that of the rebellious royal couple. L’Earthshot Prize launched by William and Kate was a global success. Less attention has so far received the green initiative carried out by brother Harry and his wife Meghan, l’sustainable travel company Travalyst which aims to provide eco-friendly travel options around the world.

But now Harry and Meghan have put it on the line the highest stake ever: to reduce their carbon emissions to zero by 2030. The challenge between royal green continues. It is hoped that the fragile planet Earth will benefit most of all.
